English Corner: Gap Year
On May 16th, the English Corner, sponsored by DELC, was held at the small garden between Teaching Building F and G. On the topic of “Gap Year”, this session of English Corner was attended by the invited foreign teachers Markus, John, Nilo and Sibing Lu, accompanied by Chinese teacher Jianzhi Cai.
Logistics Group Conducted English Training Course for Its Staff
To improve the logistical staff’s English ability and stress on our school-running feature—distinctive feature of foreign language, the Logistics Group especially conducted English Training Course for its staff. On the evening of May 15th, over 70 staff members from General Affairs Office, Infrastructure Office, Security Department, Materials &. Facilities Service Division, School Supermarket, Dining Hall and School-bus Fleet attended the English Training Course, lectured by foreign teacher John.
Deputy Consul-General of Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Guangzhou Paid a Visit to Our College
On May 15th, a party headed by Kerr Kessler, Deputy Consul-General of Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Guangzhou, accompanied by Mrs. Anja Schmidt, director of Consulate Service and visa, and colleges concerned of German Academic Exchange Service, paid a visit to our college. They preached and exchanged views about the issues of our German majors’ studying in Germany.
A Delegation of University of Technology, Sydney, Visited Our College
On May 14th, a delegation, led by David Bound, president of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Technology, Sydney, visited our college. The two parties exchanged views on teaching, faculty force, schooling-running feature, status of talents training and cooperation.
Representatives of International Cooperation and Exchange Division Paid a Visit to Consulate General of Canada in Guangzhou
On May 11th, a party, headed by Xiaoqi Liang, director of International Cooperation and Exchange Division, paid a visit to Connie Li, Commercial Attache of Consulate General of Canada in Guangzhou. The two parties exchanged views on the issues of our students’ studying in Canada, and expressed the hope of further promoting communication and cooperation between Canadian universities and our college in international education.
Teachers of DELC and CED Attended ELT International Conference
From May 11th to 12th, 2012 ELT International Conference on English Teaching, sponsored by Jinan University and co-hosted by Regional English Language Office of the Embassy of the United States, was held at Jinan University. Five teachers from Department of English Language and Culture and College English Department of our college attended on invitation, and participated actively in the stages of communication and interaction.
Male and Female Volleyball Teams of Our College were Awarded Separately the First and Second Prize of “Conghua” College Volleyball League Match
Recently, the Volleyball Association of our college participated on invitation in the 5th “Conghua” Ten-College Volleyball League Match at Nanfang College of Sun Yat-sen University. After bitter fighting, the male and female volleyball teams of our college were awarded separately the first and second prize.
