The First Undergraduate Course Teaching Conference was Inaugurated
On May 31st, the first Undergraduate Course Teaching Conference of our college was inaugurated at the Lecture Hall. At the beginning, Liu, Jianda Vice-president of GDUFS cum President of our college, gave a report entitled “Improving teaching and innovating in Mode of Talent Cultivating to raise the quality of teaching”. In his report, President Liu pointed that the program of “Eight Constructions and Three Innovations” will be energetically promoted during the Twelfth Five-year Plan to improve the general standard of teaching, taking teaching quality as our lifeline. “Eight Constructions and Three Innovations” here includes eight constructions, namely teaching thought construction as the precursor, undergraduate course teaching construction as the breakthrough, discipline and specialty construction as the locomotive and teaching faculty construction as the key, combined with practical teaching construction, course construction, teaching management system construction and teaching infrastructure construction, and three innovations namely innovation of mode of talent cultivating, teaching methods and teaching evaluation system. During the 3-day conference, the representatives discussed on this report and provided advices on improving teaching quality.
Badminton Court under the Students’ Apartment Was Put to Use
In accordance with the court condition and the using feedback of teachers and students, the other six courts under students’ apartments have been upgraded on the basis of the two upgraded badminton courts under No. 5 Students’ Apartment, and so far all the badminton courts have been put into use.
Alumni Association of Our College at Shenzhen was Officially Established
On May 26th, the first branch Alumni Association of our college—Alumni Association at Shenzhen was officially established. Over 40 alumni gathered at Shenzhen to celebrate the establishment.
Students of College Distinguished Themselves in MyET-MyCT Speaking Contest
Recently, the 2nd MyET-MyCT Speaking Contest of Guangdong came to an end. Of the 148 students from our college competing with over 8000 candidates from the other colleges of Guangdong, Hong Xiaoming and Li Dan won the Excellence Award of Undergraduate Group in 14th and 22nd respectively, and Qiu Mengying and Xia Er’ni was awarded the Campus Master.
Our College Becomes the Member of China Japanese Education Association
From May 26th-27th, teacher representatives of our college attended, on the invitation of Secretariat of China Japanese Education Association, the 40th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan as well as the 30th anniversary of the founding of China Japanese Education Association at Tianjin Foreign Studies University. At the anniversary, our college was coopted onto the Association.

On May 22nd, Asian Language and Cultures Department held Elegant Demeanour Demonstrating Evening of Japanese, Korean and Arabic on the theme of “Three Languages Sparkling, Dazzling the Orient” at Business Plaza. Besides the performance of Chinese students, the Evening witnessed the performances of the teachers of Asian Language and Cultures Department and the foreign students from Japan and Korea as well.
