Director of the National Committee on Teaching Spanish Language to Majors in Higher Education under the Ministry of Education Gives a Talk in SCBC
Jingsheng Lu, a professor of the Shanghai University of Foreign Studies and director of the National Committee on Teaching Spanish Language to Majors in Higher Education under the Ministry of Education , gave a talk on the afternoon of May 17th to SCBC Spanish majors and other Spanish language learners about the "Needs and Demands of Spanish Language Talents from the Perspective of the Magnificent Planning of China's Foreign Relationships".
In his talk, Prof. Lu elaborated the needs and demands of Spanish language talents with specific data and real-life cases, based on the background of the times of China's great expectation of foreign relationships. He first summarized the roles of the major languages played in the world and the situation of use of Spanish language, then he postulated that "Spanish is well deserved to be an international common language". He pointed out the Spanish language human resources have been more and more in demand in our country, ever since the Reform of 1978 and, in view of the current international situation and related data, the height of this demand will be continuously rising. He also advised that learning Spanish as a specialty could be hard and strenuous, though there is a gorgeous career prospects for Spanish majors. Thus he hoped that students take to their specialty so as to create a better future through their own efforts.
