               A Maiden Visit to SCBC Made by Visitors from Universidad Antonio de Nebrija, Spain


  A visit was made to SCBC on March 23rd by Mr. Juan Antonio Escarabajal, Director of Department of Development and Marketing, and his entourage, who were received at 309 of the Administrative Building by Vice President Wang Xinjie.



  The vice president, after giving the visitors a sincere welcome, briefed them on the SCBC’s signature traits in running the school and the mode in training hands-on talents by extensively integrating disciplines with foreign languages in such ways as “ One Foreign Language + One Discipline + Internship” and “Another Non-English Foreign Language + English Discipline + Internship”. She emphasized that Spanish is SCBC’s signature major characteristic of a large student population, good quality education and active involvement in international exchange. She hopes that the visit made by Mr. Escarabajal will facilitate further co-operation between SCBC and Universidad Antonio de Nebrija.



  Mr. Escarabajal, showing his intention of co-operation, presented Universidad Antonio de Nebrija on a video terminal. Situated in Madrid, the university, according to him, is one of the ten most famous private universities and colleges approved by the Spanish Ministry of Education. It boasts 29 undergraduate majors in 5 schools and one of most important bases in Spain to train international teachers of Spanish.



  An initial discussion was held by both parties on such things as the programs of exchanging students of Spanish and SCBC’s students going to study in Spain in the future.

A First-Time Visit to SCBC Made by Visitors from University Onsnabruck, Germany

  A maiden visit was made to SCBC on the morning of March 17th by Dr. Christian Beinke, Dean of the Department of Teaching German as a Foreign Language, University Onsnabruck, Germany, and his entourage, who were received by Executive Vice President Lai Zhili at 309 of the Administrative Building.



  Vice President Lai Zhili extended a sincere welcome to the guests. The vice president elaborated on SCBC’s signature strength and priority in English and internship and international exchange and co-operation, showing his intention to facilitate mutual co-operation down the road.



  Dr. Beinke presented a general picture of University Onsnabruck. Founded in 1629 and located in Lower Saxony of Germany, it is said to be one of the most famous comprehensive public universities in Germany with a current on-campus student population of 14,000 at 9 schools in 9 categories of disciplines. Besides, the university has established its relations of exchange and co-operate with SCBC so as to provide even higher learners’ platform for SCBC’s students when faculty and students from both schools are prompted in the exchange of their languages and cultures.



  A subsequent discussion was held by both parties on such matters as the program of 3+1 intended for the Department of German and future plans for SCBC’s students going to study in Germany.

  After the meeting, the German guests were shown around the campus by staff from the Center for International Co-op and Exchange. Dr. Beinke said that he was impressed with the beautiful views and unique architecture styles of the school buildings, which, according to him, stand out among those in so many other universities and colleges he had visited.

Two Undergraduate Majors Recently Added to SCBC

  The Ministry of Education has recently made public the Notice the Ministry Has Made on the Record-Filing and Approval of Undergraduate Majors for Universities and Colleges in 2016 (Doc. #2 <2017> for U&C by ME).

  Two majors of SCBC, Economic Statistics and Hotel Management, have passed the filing and approval process mandated by the Ministry of Education and have been qualified for enrolling students in 2017.

  Up till now, SCBC has had a total number of 33 majors in the four categories of disciplines such as Liberal Arts, Economics, Management and Engineering. Among these, there are 11 majors in the discipline of foreign languages and literature alone, which makes SCBC a private school with most majors in the foreign languages discipline in Guangdong Province. 

  The approval of the two undergraduate majors of Economic Statistics and Hotel Management has optimized the structural layout for the majors in SCBC.
