11 Students from SCBC Won 1st Prize at National English Contest for College Students (NECCS)
11 students from SCBC won the National 1st Prize for the Non-English-Major Group of Category C at the 2017 finals of the NECCS on 14 May.
The finals of the contest for the Non-English-Major Group of Category C were conducted in writing, which was intended to gage the caliber of English of the contestants in such skills as listening, reading and writing. Of all 197 contestants from 35 universities and colleges in Guangdong Province, 11 students from SCBC such as Kuang Huiqi, a student from the International Major in Bilingualism of 2014, won the National 1st Prize for Category C.
School Motto Pioneers Camp of SCBC Participated in the First Parade of National Flag Guards of Guangdong Province and Got Awarded
In an attempt to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the PLA, the national flag guards from the Pioneers’ Camp of SCBC, headed by Vice President Yang Yongqiang, participated in the first parading show of national flag guards from Guangdong Province and was honored with the 3rd group prize for their great performance.
Such an event, sponsored by the National Defense Education Society of Guangdong Province, was joined in by as many as 1000 national flag guards from 29 universities and colleges within Guangdong Province. In the parade, students of the national flag guards from the school motto pioneers’ camp of SCBC put everyone in awe of their paramilitary posture of standing straight and tall and marching in step with vigor and vibrancy, and the whole venue was echoed with their resounding slogans of the SCBC’s motto, “Strive to excel ourselves in Chinese and western academic fundamentals by securing ethical integrity and practicality”. Their great performance has showcased the signature strengths of the national flag culture and charismatic etiquette of SCBC as well as strong military qualities and impressively active mentality of the students at SCBC.
After fierce competition, the team from SCBC finished 3rd in the group contest of Guangdong Province with “Top Instructor” going to Gao Caiyun from the Students Division and “Top Team Members” going to the 4 students such as Liu Weisen, Lin Juye, Chen Xiaonqing and Zheng Xintao.
