Yu Jinxi Wins A Third Prize at National Russian Language Competition
Yu Jinxi, student of Russian language of Class 2015 from the School of European Languages and Cultures, won a third prize(senior group) after scoring top four in the primary written test in the National Russian Language Competition held from October 26 to 28 at Shanghai International Studies University. Such an impressive performance earned her an opportunity to study a master’s degree in Russia with a full scholarship granted by China Scholarship Council. Meanwhile, Zheng Chunling, also student of Russian language of Class 2017 was rewarded a honorable mention for juniors. Ms. Yu Fengying was honored as “Excellent Supervisor”.
349 students from 147 colleges and universities all over the country took part in the primary. The final round of contest consisted of a prepared speech, a idiom test, and an impromptu speech. Yu Jinxi had shown in the competition a good command of Russian language and a deep understanding of Chinese and Russian cultures, with beautiful pronunciation and intonation, excellent mastery of vocabulary, and quick response to questions.
Parallel Session of 2018 Guangdong Federation of Social Sciences Annual Meeting & the Sixth Guangzhou Academic Season Held at SCBC
On October 31, a symposium on “Airport Economy: Support to the Building of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” was held at the International Conference Hall of South China Business College as a parallel session of 2018 Guangdong Federation of Social Sciences and the Sixth Guangzhou Academic Season. Experts and scholars from colleges and universities all over the country, researchers of the Greater Bay Area and airport economy, and representatives from aviation enterprises such as Guangdong Airport Management Group and China Southern Airlines had gathered at SCBC to plan for a greater future of the Great Bay Area and Airport economy.
Present in the symposium were Ye Jinbao, general secretary of Guangdong Federation of Social Sciences and member of its CPC committee, Tan Xiaohong, vice chairman of Guangzhou Federation of Social Sciences and member of its CPC committee, Feng Dacai, director of award affairs of Guangdong Federation of Social Sciences, Yang Lin, deputy chief of research planning of Guangzhou Federation of Social Sciences, Tao Yuanke, research fellow of Guangdong Federation of Social Sciences, Wang Hongxi, associate research fellow of academic planning of Guangdong Federation of Social Sciences, Huang Xiaobiao, member of the standing committee of Guangdong CPPCC and vice chairman of China Zhi Gong Party’s Guangdong Committee, Yue Chaoyang, member of the standing committee of Guangzhou CPPCC and vice chairman of China Zhi Gong Party’s Guangzhou Committee, Yang Sumei, deputy director of economic affairs of China Zhi Gong Party’s Guangdong Committee, leadership of SCBC, including Executive Vice President Lai Zhili, Vice President He Aibing, Vice President Xiong Kuanghan, Vice President Yang Li, and representatives from colleges and universities, research organizations and enterprises. The opening ceremony of the symposium was hosted by Vice President Yang Li.
Lai Zhili said in his speech that with participation of so many academic institutions at home and abroad, enterprises, and government departments, the symposium had served as a platform of communication tor experts, scholars, and professionals who were concerned with the Greater Bay Area and airport economy studies to exchange ideas and share research results and business experience. He believed that the symposium would enhance understanding, friendship, and cooperation between the attendees whose collective wisdom would surely contribute to the development of the Greater Bay Area.
According to Ye Jinbao from Guangong Federation of Social Sciences, the Greater Bay Area, as a key national strategy, had been planned and promoted by General Secretary and President Xi Jinping himself. President Xi had given important directives on the development of the Greater Bay Area several times, rallying people and resources to work for the prosperity of the area. As one of the academic bases for airport economy in southern China, SCBC’s Collaborative Innovation Center for Airport Economy had encouraged frontier, cutting-edge, and innovative researches in areas such as regional cooperation, optimization of industrial structure, business expansion in the domestic market and collaborated development between the nine cities and two SARs. Through this symposium, the Center had offered its share of in-depth analysis and constructive solutions to the coordinated, collaborative and innovative development of the Greater Bay Area.
Tan Xiaohong pointed out in her speech that collaboration and innovation, as the theme of our times, had been the focus for the nine cities and two SARs in the Greater Bay Area. The growth of the cities and regions through innovation in the area required multiple channels of collaboration and painstaking efforts of all involved parties, of which one critical aspect was building consensus before taking any practical actions. The symposium had chosen a great theme, a proof that SCBC’s Center was able to catch up with the latest development in the studies and researches of the Greater Bay Area and airport economy.
In May this year, SCBC’s Collaborative Innovation Center for Airport Economy was approved as one of research bases of social sciences in Guangdong by the CPC Committee of Guangdong Federation of Social Sciences. In the presence of all attendees of the symposium, the Center was officially unveiled by Ye Jinbao, Feng Dacai, Lai Zhili and He Aibing.
