A Delegation from the University of Plymouth Visits SCBC
On the afternoon of March 12, Executive Vice President Lai Zhili held a meeting with the visiting guests from the University of Plymouth, among them were Sheela Agarwal, deputy head of the School of Tourism and Hospitality, Richard Parkman, programme manager of Tourism, Hospitality and Cruise Management Programmes, Tang Xueying and Zhang Zhenyi, representatives of the University’s office for China affairs.
According to Times Higher Education, the over-100-year-old University of Plymouth, as one of the emerging global elite of modern higher education institutions, is placed among the top 300 in the world university ranking. In the meeting, the two sides discussed various areas of cooperation, such as a “2+2” matriculation programme of Tourism Management and a “3+1” Plymouth project. The guests hoped that the two higher education institutions would enter a friendly partnership and move on with the discussed overseas programmes as soon as possible,
In an introduction to SCBC and its characteristics, Mr. Lai emphasized that international exchange and cooperation had always been a focus of the development of South China Business College. He hoped that the two sides would establish partnership soon to work hand in hand in the cultivation of global professionals.
Later on, the delegation arrived at Lecture Hall F101 to meet the students from the School of Tourism of SCBC, who were then briefed on the campus life, the top courses and the organization of Plymouth University. Prof. Richard Parkman and Prof. Sheela Agarwal shared with the present students the possible internship arrangements of the Programmes of Cruise Management and Tourism respectively.
A number of personnel also joint the reception of the guests from the British university of Plymouth, including Mr. Yang Jianjun, head of the International Exchange and Cooperation Center, Chi Shengnv, dean of the School of International Students, Chen Shuxing, deputy dean of the School of Tourism and representatives from the the International Exchange and Cooperation Center.
