Partnership agreement signed between SCBC and Tanta University, Egypt
Dr.Elrefaie Ibrahim Mubarak, vice-president of Tanta University of Egypt, led a delegation to SCBC on the morning of September 11. Executive Vice-President Lai Zhili received the guests in Room 309 of the Administration Building. Also present in the meeting were Mr. Yang Jianjun, director of the Center for International Cooperation and Exchange, Ms. Chi Shengnü, dean of International School, and Mr. Yang Jianrong, director of the Department of Arabic Language.
On behalf of South China Business College, Mr. Lai Zhili expressed his warm welcome to his old friend, Dr. Elrefaie Ibrahim Mubarak, who visited SCBC for the second time, and briefed the guests on the Department of Arabic Language and its development. In exchange, Dr. Elrefaie Ibrahim Mubarak introduced Tanta University, the first public university in Arabic countries to offer courses to teach Arabic language to speakers of other languages. With the partnership agreement signed between the two institutions, the cooperation will extend further, such as exchange projects of teaching and scientific research projects for teachers and academicians, and a “2+2” double-degree collaborative program for students of Arabic language at SCBC that is designed to train students into proficient Arabic speakers, translators and interpreters with international vision and good knowledge about Arabic society, economy and culture, and both sides hoped to enable more exchanges among students and build a Confucius Institute together in Tanta University in the future. Later, the delegation held talks with Arabic language teachers in the office of the Department of Arabic Language about the curriculum of the collaborative program, and the security, accommodation and living conditions for exchange students in both institutions.
It is reported that five students of Arabic language at SCBC will join the “2+2” collaborative program and start their studies at Tanta University from September 15. When Mr. Lai Zhili led a delegation to Tanta University and met with Dr. Elrefaie Ibrahim Mubarak last November, the two sides had signed a memorandum of cooperation after a preliminary discussion on the collaborative program and the initiative to build a Confucius Institute.
