Dongguan Sogoode International funds scholarship to SCBC students

On the afternoon of October 22, an agreement was signed between the School of European Languages and Culture and Sogoode International, an e-commerce company in Dongguan, at Room 309 of the Administration Building. According to the agreement, the company will offer annually 50,000 yuan as scholarship to 10 senior students (5,000 yuan each) from the School who excel in both character and studies and who have come under financial distress.

Present at the ceremony were Wang Xinjie, vice president of South China Business College and representatives from Dongguan Sogoode International COO An Xiaoyu, HR Manager Li Shangqin, and E-Platforms Manager Guo Yuting.

According to Vice President Wang, that a leading local e-commerce business like Dongguan Sogoode has chosen to set up a scholarship for SCBC students shows a growing recognition from industry of not only SCBC’s pattern of education, one of “comprehensive knowledge, excellent specialty, foreign language proficiency and practical skills”, but also the professional competence of graduates from the School of European Languages and Cultures. It is mutually beneficial to set up the scholarship. On one hand, more outstanding graduates would be drawn to join the company; on the other, senior students would have good internship opportunities. She hoped that the scholarship fund should be put into effective use, and that the School should put its advantage of language education into full play and extend its cooperation with the company. Through solid hard work, the School should explore new modes of university-industry collaboration and new ways of cultivating students who have the knowledge and skills necessary for helping enterprises grow. The success of such endeavors would mean a lot to the development of SCBC as a regional university that aspires to contribute its bits to the growth of the Greater Bay Area.

COO An Xiaoyu said there have been outstanding SCBC graduates working as interns or in regular staff in the company every year since Sogoode partnered with SCBC three years ago. SCBC is not only a great university, but also an excellent training base of competent professionals for many enterprises. The primary purpose of setting up the scholarship this time is to support the training of students from the School of European Languages and Cultures. Moreover, it is intended to encourage students to excel in both studies and character. Hopefully, the cooperation with SCBC will continue and go further in the future.

Both sides set a high value on their cooperation, and then signed the three-year agreement on the scholarship, which is entitled “Dongguan Songshan Lake (EcoPark)--Sogoode Scholarship”.
