Foreign teachers entertained at banquet to celebrate holidays
On December 23, 24 foreign teachers and those in charge of international communication from all the schools and departments of SCBC were invited to dine at the Chinese restaurant at SCBC Canteen to celebrate the upcoming Christmas and the New Year’s Day. Vice President Lai Zhili, Vice President Wang Xinjie and the staff of International Cooperation and Exchange Center also joint the occasion.
Vice President Lai gave a speech and extended his gratitude to foreign teachers and those in charge of international communication for their contribution to SCBC and their accomplishment in the past year. People when away from home often miss their families most during holiday seasons. As Christmas and the New Year’s Day were approaching, Mr. Lai hoped that the get-together at the Chinese restaurant would be a comforting moment for those who were far away from home. He also expressed his sincere and best wishes for the families and relatives of foreign teachers.
Licinia, a Portuguese teacher from the School of European Languages and Cultures, seemed to know a thing or two about the Chinese traditional culture, saying that it would be the auspicious year of the Rat in 2020. Though unable to become fluent with Chinese right away, she was more than willing to learn more about the Chinese culture.
Of all the delicacies, crispy cookies in the shape of writing brush were the most popular. It was a very attractive fried desert that looked like a symbol of the Chinese culture of calligraphy. As the desert was served, everyone took out their phones and took photos of it. Amazed by the delicacy, Meeraz from the School of Economics even filmed how excited everyone was and how they tasted the desert.
It was a wonderful evening for everyone. They tasted the most delicious Chinese food, chatted happily and sent wishes to each other. Everyone there could feel the warmth and happiness of family at South China Business College.
