SCBC students volunteer at Metro stations during the holiday
From Ocboter 1 to 8, a group of SCBC students volunteered at the stations of Jiahe Wanggang, Zhuliao, Conghua Passenger Station, Xinhe, Zhenlong of Guangzhou Metro Line 14. This volunteering activity was co-organized by the Youth League Committee of the School of Economics and the Youth League Committee of South China Business College. These volunteers served as station traffic guides to help ensure safe and sound metro travelling during the National Day & Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.
It was recorded that these students volunteered more than 300 times during the 8-day holiday. Guangzhou Metro staffers arranged a pre-work training session for the volunteers, in which they had to picked up quickly useful information to do the job as traffic guides, including the locations and surroundings of the stations, the hand gestures to guide passengers, the responsibilities they should fulfill, and the reminders for volunteers.
After the training, the volunteers started to work at designated positions. They did an excellent job with their sincere smiles, friendly attitude, efficient and high-quality services that were applauded by both the Metro staffers and many passengers. Their performance has been a showcase of SCBC students’ youthful and kindhearted spirit of helping others. At the 71st birthday of the P.R.C, this new generation of young men and women is showing their Motherland with action that they are ready to take on new responsibilities.
In 2019, the Youth League Committee of the School of Economics was elected Chair member of the Baiyun Federation of College Student Volunteers. This has been a huge encouragement for the volunteers. Always with the first aspiration of the Party in mind, they will keep up their good work, and uphold the volunteer spirit of “dedication, friendliness, mutual assistance, and progress”.
It also is worth noting that the Youth League Committees of SCBC has reached a preliminary agreement with Guangzhou Metro Station Service that SCBC will send students on a regular basis to volunteer at the Metro stations, as a way to fulfill its due part to serve the society.
