The South China Branch of Beijing International Aerotropolis Technology Institute (BIATI) landed at South China Business College
On March 24, South China Business College joint hands with Beijing International Aerotropolis Technology Institute (BIATI) to set up the latter’s South China Branch at SCBC. The South China Branch landing at SCBC means there will be more intellectual support for the integration of industry and education and collaborative innovation in Southern China, especially for the development of the airport economy. Many distinguished guests were present at the inauguration ceremony hosted by SCBC’s Vice President He Aibing, including Di Dongsheng, director of Belt and Road Initiative Promotion Center of National Development and Reform Commission, Ding Xiaojun, chair of the Board of SCBC, Zheng Hongjun, director of Decision-making Research Center of Guangdong Provincial Social Science Federation, and representatives from China Southern Airlines, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangdong Airport Management Group, Guangzhou Social Science Federation, Qingyuan High-tech Development Zone Management Committee, Party Committee and Government of Gaoming Discrict, Foshan City, etc..

Ma Jian awarded the appointment letters to the president, the vice president and the first batch of researchers of the South China Branch.
Beijing International Aerotropolis Technology Institute (BIATI) is a comprehensive and action-oriented think tank platform in the field of China's airspace economy, jointly funded by the China Urban Airspace Economy Research Center and social capital in an effort to adapt to the requirements of institutional reform in recent years. According to Wang Hua, Beijing International Aerotropolis Technology Institute (BIATI) has established a close cooperation relationship with SCBC. Setting up a branch at SCBC creates a good opportunity to integrate international vision and national policies, as the Branch will become an intellectual platform in support of the development of aeronautical economy in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, following the principles of regional economic and urban development under the framework of the national Belt and Road Initiative as well as the law and characteristics of the development of aviation industry.
It is reported that SCBC’s Collaborative Innovation Center for Airport Economy was established in 2014 and recognized as a social science research base of Guangdong Province by the Guangdong Federation of Social Science in 2018. As an important research institution, the Center has on his shoulders the task and mission of developing the relevant disciplines at the college. The South China Branch will invite elite experts of politics, industry, academia working in the field of aviation economy to the college every year for the Airport Economy Research Forum and deliver keynote speeches, and organize high-level academic lectures and seminars on campus every quarter to help the college incubate and cultivate a research team that understands aviation economy, airport economy, and professional planning in general aviation and can provide business consulting services. Therefore, the establishment of the South China Branch will create new opportunities for the development of SCBC’s Collaborative Innovation Center for Airport Economy. The cooperation will also bring together professional research forces from home and abroad to carry out theoretical and policy research on airport economy, and join hands to build a high-end think tank for the development of airport economy and the economic growth in the Greater Bay Area.
In the first lecture of the South China Airport Economy Forum, Di Dongsheng, director of the Belt and Road Construction Promotion Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, gave a speech entitled “The Situation and Prospects of Building Belt and Road Initiative”. He elaborated in his speech on the significance of promoting the Belt and Road Initiative, the international environment for the Initiative, and the important tasks ahead, such as building the Green Silk Road, the Digital Silk Road, and the Health Silk Road.
Rural revitalization through digital economy: Live streaming base opens at SCBC
On March 24, Bafang Xiwo-SCBC Live Streaming Base for E-commerce was inaugurated at SCBC. This is the first of its kind at SCBC, which means that students can participate in the fashionable business model of e-commerce + live streaming without leaving campus.
Many distinguished guests were invited to attend the inauguration ceremony, including Zhang Yuanjun, deputy mayor of Zhongluotan Township, Baiyun District; Liu Weijian, member of the Party Committee of Zhongluotan Township; Zeng Yu, CEO of Guangzhou Bafang Shengshi Holdings Limited; Zhou Zhihua, secretary general of Baiyun District Fur Association and head of Bafang Shengshi's university-enterprise cooperation program, and other government and business representatives.
Gu Yeli, supervisor of SCBC, said that stronger commitment to industry-education integration and university-enterprise cooperation is a key booster to improve the quality of talent training. The establishment of the live streaming base is an important achievement of such effort. It is also conducive to the growth of teachers and the development of related disciplines at SCBC. The base will cultivate high-quality professionals in live streaming for the cooperative enterprises and even the regional economic development, and will also serve the governments, villages, enterprises and universities in the surrounding area. It is hoped that through the platform of “Bafang Xiwu”, thousands of live streaming e-commerce “phoenixes” will be incubated.
Prof. Jiang Manyuan, dean of the School of Economics, told reporters that SCBC has distinctive foreign language characteristics, and the live streaming base will tap the talent pool of the college's 12 foreign language programs to engage in multilingual cross-border e-commerce. With experimental classes offered later, more students will be able to have a go in live streaming. In addition to training students, the base will be built into a professional live-streaming training center integrating teacher training, talent incubation, and live streaming marketing. On the basis of strengthening cooperation and communication between schools and enterprises, the base will encourage the sharing of industry resources so as to grasp the current social and corporate demand for talents. This will help the college train students in a tailor-made fashion and cultivate more practice-oriented talents to meet the needs of society.
The recently released “14th Five-Year Plan” outlined the tasks ahead for rural revitalization: improve urban-rural integration consumption network, expand the coverage of e-commerce into rural areas, improve the county consumption environment, and promote the upgrading of rural consumption. Prof. Jiang Manyuan said that the base will surely bring new vitality in the surrounding villages and boost sales of the traditional agricultural products, and thus contribute to promoting rural revitalization through digital economy.
Chen Xiaomin, a junior of E-commerce major from the School of Economics, is selling goods on a live-streaming platform. A table, three or five stands, a smart phone and a beauty light are the basic equipment for live broadcasting, and she is recommending an air fryer to the viewers. This is the first live streaming show at the base. During last year's winter vacation, Chen Xiaomin took an internship job at Bafang. After a few months of training, now she is able to take charge of live streaming and selling goods on her own. She told reporters that in the process of learning live streaming, she had a better understanding of the new media industry and became familiar with the content, process, and operations of the live-streaming platforms. “Currently, with the booming of new media industries, live streaming industry, as the thing at the right windy spot of our times, can provide very good career opportunities,” said Chen Xiaomin. Being a live-streaming host is pretty close to what she has been learning as an E-commerce major. Already with relevant basic knowledge in hand, she gradually figures out in the process what she is really interested in and sees a clearer career path ahead.
