SCBC student claims grand prize at 2021 All-China Japanese Speaking Contest

On December 12, the 16th All-China Japanese Speaking Contest (South China Region) was held at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies with 35 contestants from colleges and universities in South China competing for the laureates. Zeng Zhen, a junior of Japanese from the School of Asian Languages and Cultures, won the grand prize and will represent the South China Region in the national final. This is the second consecutive year that SCBC students have won the grand prize in the Contest in the South China Region.

The competition consists of two parts: proposition speech and impromptu speech. The judges graded the proposition speech videos recorded in advance; the impromptu speech was held online, and the contestants drew their topics and then started a 2-3 minute speech within 10 seconds after the draw.

Zeng Zhen’s draw was “What’s your comment on the view that young people today are not so reliable? “ She started from the idea that everything needs to be planned in advance and used examples of students taking exams and studying abroad to analyze the need to make good plans at all times in life and to take one step at a time towards success, so that young people could prove to society that they are capable and thus increase their voice and enhance their reliability. Zeng Zhen's speech was logical and clear, with the kind of richness and fluency of language that left a great impression on the judges and the audience, and finally got her the grand prize.
